Very nice list, Jeff. Great minds think alike! Got a few questions:
ReplyDelete1. What can you tell me about the kind of hitter Mengden is?
2. How easy was the velo from Magliozzi at the National? I see he sat 92-93, but with his frame and the prestige of the showcase, I have to question whether he actually sits in that range, or if he was just amped to be there.
3. Pfeifer is another guy I considered. How good of a feel did he have for pitching? Seems like a soft-tossing lefty right now with some projection.

I prefer Mengden on the mound. As a hitter, he's a solid prospect too. Good approach at the plate. Mashed at National. Showed solid power while hitting with wood.
ReplyDeleteMagliozzi was a guy who jumped out to me. I wanted to put him higher, but like you questioned if he sat low 90s. Repeated his delivery well. His off-speed stuff was also impressive. Showed a plus change.
Pfeifer can pitch. Might be some unneeded movement in his delivery but he makes it work. Low 90s lefty who can throw his curve for strikes late in counts.
