Pittsburgh Pirates- Gerrit Cole- RHP, UCLA
All reports show the Pirates leaning towards Cole. Hultzen's name is still being floated around here too.

2. Seattle Mariners- Anthony Rendon- 3B, Rice
The Mariners are heavily leaning towards a bat, and Rendon is the best in the draft. Rumors of Lindor here, but I see them going with Rendon.

3. Arizona Diamondbacks-Danny Hultzen- LHP, Virginia
Hultzen still has a chance to go 1-1, but Arizona has been on him all spring, and if he's available here, he should be their pick.

4. Baltimore Orioles- Dylan Bundy- RHP Owasso HS
Bundy has been linked to the Orioles for a while. Trevor Bauer is still in the mix.

5. Kansas City Royals- Trevor Bauer- RHP, UCLA
Royals fans are praying for Starling, and he still has a chance to go here. They will most likely go with the college pitcher, however.

6. Washington Nationals- Bubba Starling- OF, Gardner-Edgerton HS
Could you imagine three straight drafts of Strasburg, Harper, and Starling? WOW.

7. Arizona Diamondbacks- Sonny Gray- RHP, Vanderbilt
Really tough to say which way they are going to go here. Fransisco Lindor, Matt Barnes, and Archie Bradley are in the mix as well.

8. Cleveland Indians- Jed Bradley- LHP, Georgia Tech
I see them taking the college pitcher here. Gray would be an option if he makes it here.

9. Chicago Cubs- Archie Bradley- RHP, Broken Arrow HS
They prefer Starling, but it doesn't look like he will fall here. Javier Baez and Mikie Mahtook have also been linked with Chicago.

10. San Diego Padres- George Springer- OF, UCONN
Cory Spangenberg has been linked with the Padres lately, but I see that more for the 25th pick, if he makes it there. Springer's teammate Matt Barnes is also a strong possibility here.

11. Houston Astros- Taylor Jungmann- RHP, Texas
Most likely leaning towards a college pitcher if Bradley isn't available. Rumors have them linked to Stanford LHP Chris Reed as well.

12. Milwaukee Brewers- Mikie Mahtook- OF, LSU
Mahtook and Javier Baez seem to be the top two on their list if this scenario played out.

13. New York Mets- Matt Barnes, RHP, Spring Valley HS
They are all over Jungmann and Gray, but if Barnes is still available, he would be high on their list. Guerrieri and Levi Michael are still an option.

14. Florida Marlins- Cory Spangenberg- OF, Indian River JC
If Mahtook is here, he might be the pick. In this case, Spangenberg is the pick.

15. Milwaukee Brewers- Javier Baez- INF, Arlington Day School
Guerrieri is also in the mix, but they have been on Baez for a while.

16. Los Angeles Dodgers- Robert Stephenson- RHP, Alhambra HS
Stephenson rumors are strong for this pick. Should sign for slot.

17. Los Angeles Angels- Fransisco Lindor- SS, Montverde Academy
They would love a shot at him. He seems to be at the top of their board.

18. Oakland Athletics- Daniel Norris- LHP, Science Hill HS
They would love Springer to fall to 18. Norris is a fantastic HS arm.

19. Boston Red Sox- Josh Bell- OF, Dallas Jesuit HS
Bell is going to take a lot of money, but that won't scare them off.

20. Colorado Rockies- C.J. Cron- 1B, Utah
They seem to be on Cron and Kolten Wong.

21. Toronto Blue Jays- Levi Michael- SS, UNC
Seems to be the popular pick. Safer college player.

22. St. Louis Cardinals- Taylor Guerrieri- RHP, Spring Valley HS
His talent alone could put him in the top ten, but questions about his price and makeup push him down.

23. Washington Nationals- Alex Meyer, RHP, Kentucky
Early rumors had the Nationals considering him at 6, so at 23 he would probably be near the top of their list.

24. Tampa Bay Rays- Jose Fernandez- RHP, Alonso HS
the first of many picks for the rays. Local arm who shouldn't be a tough sign.

25. San Diego Padres- Tyler Anderson- LHP, Oregon
Safer college arm who should sign for slot.

26. Boston Red Sox- Blake Swihart- C, Cleveland HS
They are also heavily linked to Brandon Nimmo as well, but with them taking Bell at 19, I'll lean towards the catcher.

27. Cincinnati Reds- Sean Gilmartin- LHP, Florida State
Also on Stephenson, but Gilmartin seems to be the pick.

28. Atlanta Braves- Henry Owens- LHP, Edison HS
They prefer the best HS arm that falls.

29. San Fransisco Giants- Joe Ross- RHP, Bishop O'Dowd HS
CA arm that could go much higher.

30. Minnesota Twins- Kolten Wong- 2B, Hawaii
Safer college bat. He can hit, but if Anderson or Gilmartin make it here, they are options.

31. Tampa Bay Rays- Brandon Nimmo- OF, Cheyenne East HS
He could go to Boston, but if he's here, he could be their pick.

32. Tampa Bay Rays- Brian Goodwin- OF, Miami Dade JC
Been linked to him for a while with one of their many picks.

33. Texas Rangers- Dillon Howard- RHP, Searcy HS
One of the top prep arms. Could be a tough sign.sullydrafthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14539133522487432584noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8870381714703496745.post-77028432768805145822011-03-29T07:35:00.001-07:002011-03-29T08:18:54.478-07:002011 MLB Mock DraftNow that the draft is just over two months away, it's about time for a new mock! Buchanan is a big RHP at 6'8, 240. He is committed to Ole Miss.

Sullivan: Congrats on committing to Mississippi. What made you choose this school and what other schools did you consider?

Buchanan: I committed to Ole Miss because it's a great baseball atmosphere and the coaches and facilities are among the best in the country. Other schools I considered were LSU, Mississippi State, and Southern Miss.

What are your goals going into your senior season?

My goals for my senior season would be to give my team a chance to win every time I take the mound and help us hopefully make a run at a state championship.

You are ranked in the top 100 in the nation. Describe how that feels, and do you feel extra pressure each time you take the mound because of it.

Its an honor to be ranked in the top 100, but I try not to let pressure from things like that affect my performance. I just go out and perform how I know I can.

What pitches do you throw? How fast?

I throw a fastball about 90-92 touching 93, a curveball in the low 70's and a changeup in the high 70's to low 80's.

Who is the best hitter you have ever faced?

The best hitter I've ever faced is probably Mason Robbins. Linney recently committed to Stanford and will be playing in the Under Armour All-American Game at Wrigley Field.

Sullivan: Congrats on committing to Stanford. What drew you to this school and what other schools did you consider?

Linney: I had the honor of having a good number of great opportunities, and I was a bit biased towards playing in the Pac-10 since I have grown up on the west coast. In the end Stanford ended up just being the best overall fit for me, and the opportunity to play relatively close to home was also a great added bonus. I'm also really excited about the direction that the program is heading in. I think we're going to have a really tough team.

What are your goals for your senior season?

I want to continue working every day to improve my game and work with my teammates to better our team. We want to win an NCS championship, and I think we're all going to work to get there. I really want to start lifting and conditioning rigorously to put myself into an optimal physical condition for next season, summer, and beyond.

You were recently named to the Under Armour All-American Game. Describe how that feels and did you ever see yourself pitching on such a big stage?

It's a really big honor and I am really looking forward to the opportunity to play at Wrigley Field in that type of environment. It's going to be really fun getting to know everyone and then competing with and against them. I think that entire event is going to be a blast.

What pitches do you throw? How fast?

I throw a fastball, changeup, curveball. Over the course of the summer my fastball was between 88-91 MPH, and I touched 93 MPH a couple of times. My change is typically high 70s to low 80s, and my curve is usually low 70s.

Who is the best hitter you have ever faced?

Over the summer I've gotten to face some great competition between Connie Mack competition and the Area Code tryouts so far. Of the names that I can remember, Tyler Goeddel, another player from northern California jumps to mind. I also remember Mitch Delfino (currently playing at Cal) was also a great hitter when I faced him in high school.

Last question. Favorite player and favorite team.

My favorite two players are Cole Hamels and Barry Zito, and my favorite team is the Oakland A's. Castellano is an infielder from Evangel Christian Academy in Louisiana.

Sullivan: Congrats on signing with Vanderbilt. What drew you to this school and what other schools were you considering?

Castellano: Vanderbilt is a special place. Besides the baseball and academics, Coach Corbin was the guy I wanted to play for. He reminded me of my high school coach Tim Hulett (ex MLB veteran). I had offers from Louisville, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Auburn, Wake Forest, Tulane, and ULL.

You are currently ranked in the top 100 in the nation. Describe how that feels, and do you feel like you have a target on your back when you step up to the plate because of it?

It is an honor to be ranked in the top 100. When you are in the top 100, you are there for a reason. There is no need to feel that way because you deserve to be there.

You were named to the Under Armour All-American Game. Did you ever imagine yourself playing on such a big stage such as Wrigley Field?

When I received an invite to this particular event, it was one of the happiest days of my life. Your whole life you work hard for moments like that. After the invitation, I really did believe in the phrase "Hard work pays off."

What is the transition like playing summer ball against the top players in the country, and then going back to high school pitching?

The transition is somewhat difficult because you can go from 95 mph to 75 mph. In Louisiana we face mid 80's most of the time, so it is not as difficult as some other states.

Who is the toughest pitcher you've ever faced?

Despite the fact that I got a hit off of him, Philip Pfeifer was tough. He throws hard from the left side with a late break curveball. Left handed hitters are usually not a fan of those pitchers.

Last question, favorite player and favorite team?

My dad is from Cleveland, Ohio. Ergo, I am a Cleveland Indian fan. I love the way Pete Rose played the game, and I enjoy watching Joe Mauer hit.sullydrafthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14539133522487432584noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8870381714703496745.post-35651187466624012512010-07-31T04:06:00.001-07:002010-07-31T04:07:58.783-07:00Second Article- Prospectwire.comhttp://www.prospectwire.com/pw/article.php?id=102sullydrafthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14539133522487432584noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8870381714703496745.post-51171428793911016102010-07-29T08:15:00.000-07:002010-07-29T08:22:22.066-07:00Top Prospect Interview: Shawon Dunston Jr.<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 223px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXVXdFznqYP2xLuTI405IGTKLJoCjg13hR5eD5K5Cr5nwt9i63_WBA94YfrwM-zHXW0kvsleqgG745roL3D_k8TQ8AYLGs4PfUgLHh5EorV18eOl3Nz69RvBu4DrtlDL1djTdMtojKnEI/s320/Dunston.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5499348550711649058" />
Interview with AFLAC All-American Shawon Dunston Jr. Dunston really made an impression at the National Showcase at Tropicana Field, and is ranked in the top 50 in the nation.

Sullivan: Congrats on being ranked in the top 50 in the nation. Before this summer started I wasn't really known that well outside of California and I just wanted to get notice and I wanted to prove to people what I can do. yes theres extra pressure to perform at the plate not just because I am ranked this high, but also because I am a son of a former major leaguer and people expect more from me and people what to see something impressive.

Having a father who has been to the major leagues, how has that helped you so far in your baseball career?

My dad taught me everything I know with the game of baseball. I was in Florida for the perfect game national showcase when they told me. I was surprised I was chosen because I wasn't expecting to be named one. but its a honor and I'm blessed and I cant wait for the game.

Who is the best pitcher you have ever faced?

AJ Vanegas, a 7th round pick in this years draft and an aflac all american last year and also Jake Rodriguez a catcher who's going to Oregon State.

Describe the transition after facing the best pitchers in the country in the summer, then returning to high school ball.

The transition was really hard actually because when I came back from Florida to California to play with my high school team it was hard for me to play a game within myself because I knew these pitchers weren't as nearly good than the ones I was facing in Florida. Also when your facing the top pitchers your motivated and you compete to do well. So I had to realize I had to trick my mind and tell myself no matter whom I'm facing that its a challenge and I have to make it a challenge within myself.

Last question, favorite player and favorite team?

The San Francisco giants and my favorite player is BJ Upton and Dexter Fowler. sullydrafthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14539133522487432584noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8870381714703496745.post-63020094934250129282010-07-26T20:23:00.000-07:002010-07-29T08:23:13.992-07:00Prospectwire.comCheck out my first article at prospectwire.com !

http://www.prospectwire.com/pw/article.php?id=100sullydrafthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14539133522487432584noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8870381714703496745.post-45479477459921377402010-07-25T12:38:00.000-07:002010-07-25T12:44:59.571-07:00Top Prospect Interview: Carson Baranik<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 201px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2Xm0GU9kt0TXSq4yk2GvOtjCHQI7ia4-gXUhhKlKK7tcBSCYEPXtWgEzO5D-SBL1cfswoFvoFlidSn9NN6cNqrIjFfFPtJpFOzp7BWSuufX8DbiMWcKBfnA7WjHu_lnCcs1D0GDKw8J0/s320/Baranikk.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5497932169981827170" />

Interview with top prospect Carson Baranik.
